There is a certain quiet joy in capturing a moment before you live it, in seeing something lovely take shape under your pencil before your oven ever has a chance to warm up. This gentle practice lies at the heart of my ”Desserts of the world” coloring book, a project I created for anyone who needs a little more calm and a little more sweetness in their days. If you’ve been searching for a desserts of the world coloring book to inspire both creativity and relaxation, I hope this collection brings you joy.
Today, I tried something a little different.
I opened my ”Desserts of the world” coloring book to a familiar, beloved page. A plate full of chunky chocolate chip cookies, golden and inviting. I chose my softest brown pencil, a warm cream, and just a hint of pale blue for the plate. As I coloured, the world outside softened. The racing thoughts in my head slowed down. By the time the last cookie was shaded, my shoulders had dropped, and my mind felt clearer, calmer.
That is the magic of this simple act. And every page of my ”Desserts of the world” coloring book is designed to offer that same quiet escape.
Studies have confirmed that adult colouring can do wonderful things for an overwhelmed mind. It has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression while increasing mindfulness, enjoyment, and creativity. Even a short 15‑minute session can significantly lower cortisol, the body’s main stress hormone. It is like a gentle, affordable form of art therapy that helps calm racing thoughts and encourages a more balanced, peaceful state of mind. And I have separate blog post about, how coloring helped me in different periods of my life, and how it can help you.. Just click here to read it.
2 HOBBIES IN ONE
And here is the sweetest part. When I finished colouring, I didn’t just close the book. I got up, walked to my kitchen, and baked the very cookies I had just brought to life on the page. Colouring first gave me a beautiful sense of anticipation. It helped me visualise my goal and enter the kitchen with a calm, focused mind, ready to create something real and delicious. This is exactly the experience my desserts of the world coloring book was made to offer: first colour, then bake, then savour.
Baking, as it turns out, is its own quiet therapy. The simple, repetitive motions of whisking, sifting, and stirring have been shown to reduce stress and provide a healthy, physical outlet for our energy. During times of high stress, people who turned to baking reported lower levels of anxiety and depression and felt a greater sense of well‑being. It is an act of creativity and care that rewards you with something beautiful and delicious to share.
If you would like to try this gentle ritual for yourself, I invite you to pick up a copy of my ”Desserts of the world” coloring book. Each intricate illustration is paired with an authentic, kitchen‑tested recipe. It is an invitation to a deeper kind of relaxation. First, you calm your mind with colour. Then, you create something beautiful with your hands. It is a slow, satisfying loop of art and nourishment that I have come to adore.
Today’s journey led me to a classic favourite: the perfect chocolate chip cookie. I hope you enjoy colouring it as much as I do, and then baking it even more.

The recipe: perfectly soft chocolate chip cookies
Ingredients
Dry Ingredients:
- All-purpose flour: 280 g (2 1/4 cups)
- Baking soda: 5 g (1 teaspoon)
- Salt: 5 g (1 teaspoon)
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips: 340 g (2 cups)
- Wet Ingredients:
- Unsalted butter, softened: 227 g (1 cup / 2 sticks)
- Granulated sugar: 100 g (1/2 cup)
- Light brown sugar, packed: 200 g (1 cup)
- Eggs: 2 large (~100-110 g total), room temperature
- Vanilla extract: 10 g (2 teaspoons)
Instructions
Prepare Ingredients: Ensure eggs are at room temperature and butter is softened. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl or mixer, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until pale and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes. Scrape the sides as needed.
Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated, then mix in the vanilla extract.
Combine Dry Ingredients: Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add this to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in all the chocolate chips with a spatula.
Chill the Dough: Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (preferably overnight) to improve texture and prevent excessive spreading.
Form Cookies: Scoop the dough into 30-35 g (about 2 tablespoons or 3-tablespoon scoop) balls and place 5 cm (2 inches) apart on the prepared baking sheets. I like to put my cookie dough in baking rings, so that cookies would bake in perfect shape. Optionally, press a few chocolate chips on top of each cookie for a bakery-style finish.
Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown but centers are still slightly soft. For a fan-assisted oven, optionally reduce temperature to 175-180°C. Rotate trays halfway through baking for even cooking.
Cool: Let cookies cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. This allows them to set without losing softness.
There is something deeply satisfying about seeing a page of my ”Desserts of the world” coloring book come to life in a new way. First, in the soft silence of your favourite armchair, and then in the warm, fragrant buzz of your own kitchen. That is the gentle adventure I invite you on.
